With a smorgasbord of seafood swimming in and out of Mozambique, a good cut of meat never goes amiss.
Meat is meat and wo/man must eat! Having spent days inhaling my weight in sushi and shellfish, I began to crave a protein fix only a hearty fillet of beef would satisfy. So I set off, with my travel partner, to try find the best bleu steaks in the coastal capital city of Mozambique.

Restaurante Zambi
Apart from serving a delicious Champagne Sangria, this fine dining restaurant offers some of the best food your Meticais can buy. Cooked to order, and basted in a mouthwatering sauce, you'll inhale your cut of meat and want more. Dine in the international eaterie's interior or enjoy an afternoon dining al fresco, on the terrace, along Maputo's beach road.
MOOD Restaurante
Filed into Maputo's CBD is this trendy restaurant and bar. Always buzzing with energy and bubbling over with locals and tourists alike, MOOD really sets the standard for the other eateries and pubs on Rau Kamba Simango. Serving everything from sushi and burgers to pizza and risotto, their steaks really are their crowning glory. When ordering your cut, be sure to go with the chefs choice of preparation - you won't be disappointed.
Restarante Taverna
No restaurant in Maputo serves traditional Mozambican food as good as this (and you can quote me on that). The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. The staff make you feel like you're part of the Taverna family – and they'll feed you like you're family too. I suggest you attempt the restaurants legendary espetada dish. Though don't make the mistake of thinking your stomach is bigger than your appetite, the mammoth dish is meant to be shared.
Vin Bar and Lounge
For finger licking food prepared over an open fire, you can't go wrong with this laid-back eatery. Your steak, chops, skewers and sausages come surrounded by a moat of fries that soak up the delicious juices coming from the meat in the middle.
If you find yourself stuck in Mozambique's capital with nothing to satiate your hunger, try one of these amazing chophouse.
